John has always been a keen hunter and fisherman and enjoys seeing trout spawning in the Waimea. About 10 years ago John built a duck pond, which is now well established with the 300+ trees and shrubs providing shelter from prevailing winds as well as creating a habitat for many different species of waterfowl as well as small birds including pukeko and stilts.
